WELL I'm calling upland birds "Small game"
« on: August 29, 2013, 12:31:45 pm »
Saturday at 9:30 were heading east, east Montana that is...
The game will be Sage grouse, sharp tail grouse, Hungarian partridge ( gray) and doves with a side of turkey if we see any. There may be as many as 6 of us that a two day limit of well LOTS of birds, couple of hundred ? Really it's: Doves= 15 day, possession  45
partridge= 8 day, possession 32
sharp tailed = 4 day, possession 16
sage grouse= 2 day, possession 4
turkey = 1 per tag, in the east we can get two tags each.
that's 30 a day and if we stayed out 4 days that's 99 birds EACH !!!!!

Boy we will need a lot of coolers, ha, and ice. The forecast is all weekend to be over 90* , tuff hunting for sure. Last year we , there was 4 , we al got our two day limits on all types of birds we could point at and shoot, including turkey, good trip, almost ran out of shells. The FWP said not to expect the hunting to be as good this year. It was very cold and wet this spring and most the broods failed for grouse, the turkeys are still trying to come back from three years ago nasty winter. The season doesn't start till Sunday so we plan on calling coyote in the afternoon well in to the night, can't sleep any way. The place we plan on camping is a small prairie lake and it's TEEMING with large mouth, crappy, and blue gill. Last year we fished as much as hunted we filed out limits so early in the day. If it all works it should be a real "Shoot" fest. I took Tuesday off to recoup. 8)

LOL thanks for sharing. I am headed south to watch some buddies hunt white wings sometime this month, I am not a bird hunter, there will be some good fishing, and food both of which I plan to participate in!!!
No matter the species overpopulation is far more devastating than any plague.
